WHAT WE DO

We volunteer. More than 1000 hours annually to community service.

We raise funds, 100% of which are directly invested in the community. Proceeds from our annual blueberry sale have provided nearly $100,000 to beneﬁt Arlington kids.

We award scholarships. More than $15,000 to Arlington high school graduates each year.

We distribute grants. More than $59,000 annually to community organizations that support area children.

We support maternal and neonatal health. Our Club donated $55,000 to The ELIMINATE project, a global initiative of UNESCO and Kiwanis International.

We sponsor leadership opportunities for youth with Key Clubs at Washington-Liberty and Yorktown High Schools.

Global Organization

The Kiwanis Club of Arlington has served the Arlington Community for more than 90 years! We are part of a worldwide organization founded in 1915 with headquarters in Indianapolis whose mission is “to serve the children of the world, one child and one community at a time”.

Arlington Kiwanis Foundation

The Kiwanis Club of Arlington established a 501(c) (3) tax exempt organization as a means of collecting, maintaining, and disbursing funds for charitable purposes. The Arlington Kiwanis Foundation is managed by a board of directors elected from and by the members of the Kiwanis Club, and operates independently from the board of the Club itself.

Our Impact

The Kiwanis Club’s generosity has enabled numerous city youth from financially challenged Arlington families spend a week of camping, team building, skill development and leadership training in the central Virginia woods. Thank you!

Doorways’ Children’s Services supported 76 children in 2021, helping them heal after trauma. Services include art and play therapy, counseling, assistance with daycare and school, and access to health care. ‘My son found it helpful to share his feelings with a trusted adult other than his par- ents,’ said one parent. The support of the Arlington Kiwanis club means the children at Doorways can thrive.

With assistance from a Kiwanis grant, APAH successfully recruited and assisted 13 residents with becoming certified State Soccer Referees, a process that requires a minimum of 8 hours of online learning sessions, and on-ﬁeld testing. APAH also provided each student with a soccer referee uni- form kit, with all the necessary tools to start working as a soccer referee.

Music education helps youth attain the competencies and experiences needed to succeed in life; it’s proven to help improve their academics, social skills and emotional well- being. Kiwanis grants to Music for Life ensure all Arlington youth can fully participate in quality music education programs.

ETC was able to use our Kiwanis grant money for after- school programming at Randolph Elementary, a Title 1 neighborhood school. The funding provided 6 scholarships in each of 2 classes. We are thankful to the Kiwanis Club for keeping ETC's programming accessible.
